Jesus Christ definitely a Superstar

With turning 24 years old a week ago i definitely had a minor mini life crisis, however i soon learnt it wasn't all that bad, besides the fact I'm nearly on my way to 30 i did get spoilt by my amazing family and friends with some amazing presents.

My amazing sister bought us some quality sisterly time with a viewing of Jesus Christ Superstar, which i attended last night in Melbourne.
For the last week we've heard how amazing this one and especially how amazing all the older versions were. With constant singing by our mother breaking out in tune every time we mentioned the stage act we became pretty excited to view this new Andrew Lloyd Production.

I'm not going to lie, when it first started and i saw the ripped denim and hoodies running around a city of riot singing i was thinking what are we in for? However i soon grasped on the new idea of Webber's modern day take on the story line.

I was stunned, amazed and then incredibly moved within the hour. The songs as well as the characters presence was absolutely mind blowing and at times very very emotional.

Before knowing anything about this spectacular performance i searched the singers and was beyond excited that i would be seeing californication actor Tim Minchin as Judas as well as going back to my childhood and seeing Melanie C from the spice girls as Mary Magdalene.

In a scary mesmerising role as Judas Minchin shows the same characteristics of insanity as his crazy californication character. Just before taking his life on the show there was a close up of Minchin on screen and i was absolutely drawn in by his rawness and emotion captured in his eyes and song. An outstanding performance by Minchin.

As soon as i heard Melanie C open her mouth i was taken back to my youth. Her voice is so capturing and she plays the seductive sensitive role perfectly. The crowd was taken aback by her vocals when she sung "I don't know how to love him" a famous past song.

I did have to google who was playing Jesus and found Ben Forster the new comer to the scene. And what an amazing new coming voice this man had. He blew the stadium away with his solos and i was brought to tears by the end with the intensity and emotion of his vocals. He took the part and blew it out of the wine changing waters.

This is a performance you don't want to miss! I would definitely love to see it again if it was still in Melbourne. Get on it guys and you will be singing those catchy tunes all the way home.

xoxo
